Hanging out 1000 to 2000 metres above Cape Town in a microlight is a completely surreal experience that explodes your senses – Wind whooshing over your body and buffeting the wings, sitting exposed in a small plastic bucket seat held in only by a waist belt, with the mountain and sea, harbour, the coast rushing towards and away from you as you swoop or lift like an eagle soaring on the thermals.
Taking off at sunrise, we watched the sun stretch out over the mountains, yawn over the ships, Robin Island, the harbour and the city buildings, and amble along the coast. It’s beautiful and thrilling. Watch the video here:
